The fun was had by all!!!!

St. Louis has this amazing...sorry, AMAZING, museum called City Museum
It's very hard to explain this place.  It's what I imagine crazy might visually look like...where you can literally touch crazy.
It's amazing, insane, awe-inspiring, weird, cool, painful (you can hit your head a lot if you aren't careful), funny, become even more crazy than normal and adults become kids again so it's just CRAZY!!!!

Here's a little info about the place from their website...

"Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. The brainchild of internationally acclaimed artist Bob Cassilly, a classically trained sculptor and serial entrepreneur, the museum opened for visitors in 1997 to the riotous approval of young and old alike.
Cassilly and his longtime crew of 20 artisans have constructed the museum from the very stuff of the city; and, as a result, it has urban roots deeper than any other institutions’. Reaching no farther than municipal borders for its reclaimed building materials, City Museum boasts features such as old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even two abandoned planes!"

Here is some of the fun we had!

The outside area.
It's full of about anything you can imagine.
(The pics aren't great cause it was a cold, cloudy day)

See the bus on top of the building behind the airplane? can go into that bus.  We haven't gotten to do the rooftop yet.  I guess there is a Ferris wheel up there too.

Z and his friend in the ball pit.

K and her friend in one of the overhead walkway tunnels

Crazy right?!  The man at the top of the pic is not actually floating in thin air...this is another caged tunnel that comes off of that airplane.

There is some cool inside stuff too...

The caverns that are built within this building.  They lead you all over the place.  This is the part that can be a little painful.

This is my favorite part.  This pic is looking up to the top of the building.  Those are slides!!!

Hamster Wheel!

This is the artist's vision of what the inside of a whale looks like!
We had such a fun time!  We took our great friends with us and each kiddo had a partner to go explore with.  It's really nice having kiddos that are each old enough that they can just go run around and have the greatest time and you know that they are safe and really having the best time.

If you ever make it to St. Louis this must be on your list of activities!!!

6 days!!!!

Only 6 days til Spring people!!!!

These little bundles of color make me so happy each spring.  I am not so happy with the new camera I got last year but every once in a while I manage to get a few pics that capture what I want.  Don't you hate that?  I think my new phone takes better pics than my camera!

This one turned out nice too.

and...look at this house!  I drive by this lovely home every morning taking L to of my favs and it's hard to choose around this town...there are so many I love.

Awe kids have just 1 more day of school this week and then it's off for Spring Break!  My awesome MIL is visiting for 7 days and we always enjoy that.  It will be nice for kiddos to have a break from all the school stuff.  It seems a lot of projects have come due here recently.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Monday, March 11, 2013's March?

Some days are just boring...
Some days are way too full...

It all becomes such a blur.
Kind of like when I think about the fact that it's already March and it will soon be summer.

I have a love/hate relationship with summer.
I love/hate having my kids home for the entire summer.
I love/hate going to the pool everyday.
I love/hate hearing my kiddos say "I'm so bored!"
I love/hate the heat.
I love/hate hearing all the locusts.
I love/hate all the time to do whatever we want.
But whatever I do, summer will be here in no time.
I think I am going to make this one the best EVER!
That's my goal.  If I spend a little more time planning it now...all will be good.

There will be lots of treks to the snow cone place right around the corner...

And since my kids absolutely love trees, lots of this doubt!

Hanging out with friends...

And I know we will spend lots of time here...

We already have some plans set.  Z starts baseball here very soon.  L and Z will be on swim team which will keep up busy daily.  K is planning on doing Summer School.  They offer a really great thing for highschoolers in Webster Groves.  They let you take classes that you would normally take during the school year, during summer so you can get them out of the way.  It's not remedial at all.  K will be taking PE and also Desktop Publishing.  Very cool!  I would have loved getting PE done during dressing-down into gross clothes during the school day!!
So those things will keep us busy quite busy...I will just make my plans work around that.

Other than that, we have our annual trek to Kansas to see my bestie and her fam-damily, Colorado to visit my sister and all the friends that we left when we moved and to Wyoming to visit my parents.

It'll be here before we know it!

Friday...Pin Day!

In my house, Friday night has got to be easy...

I do my shopping for the weekend/week in the morning, the kiddos come home from school and then it's chill-out time!

It the one night I don't cook dinner's Pizza night kiddos and a Trader Joe's something-or-other for C and I.  Oh and wine for me...well once kiddos are in bed that's every night anyways...!

I figure pinning my favs from Pinterest seems the easiest thing for a Friday blog here goes!

Love these colors!!!!

New project...ME!!!

We all have issues...I have issues (right now) are ME.
I have mentioned in the past that I have issues with the fact that I always said what I wanted to be when I grew up was a mom.  Plain and simple.  It was my calling.
The thing one ever mentioned that my kiddos will grow up.  Yep.  They grow up.  What??!!!

Look how sweet they are?!  So not fair!!

So I have been trying to figure out what's next and feeling a bit down about it.
I have talked to C and he gets it but he also doesn't get it.  He likes that I am here for our kids.  He likes what I provide our family.  He is fine with whatever I want to do but he wants the kids to be the priority as do I.
What I don't think he gets though is my dissatisfaction.  I don't get it either.  What do I have to be dissatisfied about?

I always ask myself  "What do you want to do/be?".  I hate hearing myself say it.  It sounds so spoiled, so entitled.  Most people do whatever they need to do to make things work but I feel the need to figure out what I want to do.  Does that make sense?  I want to enjoy what I do.  I want to feel fulfilled.  I want to do something that enriches my life in some way.

Then it hit me...I am looking at this from the wrong angle.  I need to look at it from my family's angle.  What is it that I provide to them?  I am lucky enough to provide everything for my family.  I need to remember how important I am to my kids.
MY family needs me to be an AT-HOME mom.
That is kids and my husband need me to do the job I have.  Yes...I have a's called Mom and I am really good at my job.  I need to be proud of that!  I really love my job.  I truly believe it's what I was meant to be and isn't that what we all strive be what we were meant to be?

So I guess I have been needlessly searching for something that I already have.
Perspective is such a good thing.  I feel I can see things in a new light now and that feels good.
Maybe that would help everyone out there who can't seem to find satisfaction in what they do.  Try to see it from the perspective of your employer...try to see what you provide them and that might bring a little more satisfaction.
You may not get a "Thank You" as often as you deserve but you must still remember your worth.  My family couldn't do without me doing what I do.  C could not do what I do nor would he want to...I couldn't do what he does and I definitely wouldn't want to.  We are where we are suppose to be.

Ahhhhh!  Love these guys!
I have every reason to be satisfied, proud, and happy...I think I already am!

A month???

Can't believe a month has gone by since my last post...

Not too much has been going on...

My picture folder for February is empty...

We had a nice Valentine's Day.  I made C a huge collage/poster of his favorite things...kiddos, me, skiing, kiddos, mountians, etc.

I got the necklace I asked for...and it's as great as I hoped!!  Thank you The Vintage Pearl!!

C gets everyone Chocolates just like his Dad used to do for him when he was a kid.  I get the biggest box which is also something his Dad used to do...Mom gets the biggest...I also got flowers!

I got the kiddos these mugs from Anthropologie!!!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

They seem to like them chocolate has been the drink of choice ever since.  It's been perfect with the weather we are having.

Can't wait!!!
