I moved...

...my sewing room that is!  A lot of you know we live in a much bigger house now and space is abundant.  One of the things I was psyched to have in this new house was a room all to myself for sewing, computer, writing, etc.  My own space, my hideaway!!!  Our home in Colorado was one C and I bought in 1993...we were 23 yrs. old and we thought the house was amazing.  It had a huge backyard, a 2-car garage for C, a large master bedroom and 3 other bedrooms that we used for misc. other things.  We didn't have kiddos until K arrived in January 1999 so there was lots of space.

Over the years those 3 extra rooms were used for many different things.  Sewing/craft rooms, C's hobby room, computer room, eventually kiddo rooms and then the office for our company.

We grew out of that house years ago but always seemed to make it work.  The living room started as the hangout for parties, throwing darts and watching movies.  Then became all things baby...swing, bassinet, toys galore and then held the sewing area where I started A.Lovely.

It was a well-used, well-loved house!

We moved to Florida in 2010 to be near C's family and our new house is much bigger.  So much bigger that we are sometimes at a loss for where to put things, ironic huh?  The funny thing is the kiddos, C and I are not used to it.  We grew used to being close together and always knowing what everyone was doing at any time.  This is the reason why my sewing room has moved...I couldn't get comfortable being across the whole house and never got anything done except when kiddos were at school.  So, the dining room is now mine and I am thrilled!

Have a look!
Still organizing but looking at this pic makes me happy...kiddos were happy too!

What can be better than fabric, a sewing machine and a hot cup of coffee?

I love the window!

Notice the kiddos have a table in there too...we like to be together!
So we are slowly getting settled in, making this house work for us.  I am thrilled we all like to be together...they may make me feel crazy at times but I guess I would rather them want to hang with me than the alternative!!
I am thrilled with where we are in life right now and look forward to making this my best life!
Might as well right?!

The differences...

Just today the differences between where we live now and where we used to live are vast...
Colorado-40 degrees, Florida- 75 degrees
Colorado- freeze warning, Florida- sweat warning (aka-high humidity)
Colorado-bags and bags of raked leaves by the curb, Florida-nothing (yet if you have seen the large oak that looms over our house in some of the pics I have put on the blog, you know our time is coming...I hear it's December-January though)
Colorado-gardens are long gone, Florida-gardens just getting started
Colorado-no mangoes, Florida-mangoes in droves and oranges are just around the corner
BUT...
Colorado-my family and the best friends my kiddos and I could ever ask for, FL.......

Eldora!

The Fam at Siesta Key Beach!  That is not snow but it is the whitest, most powdery sand that you can imagine.
We are enjoying Florida a lot but we miss you all back home so much and know that you are all invited for a visit!  We would love it!!!

3rd Grade Hoedown day!!!

To celebrate the completion of their study on Colorado, the pioneers who made their home here and the Indians who already lived here, the entire 3rd grade threw a hoedown!  The kids were all so excited and got all dressed up as did some of their parents.  They were all so proud of their hard work.
Zander did a project on what a typical indian teepee would have looked like and the how the indian's would have lived.  He wrote a story (with just a little help from Mom) about our play structure in the back yard turning into a time machine and being transported into the time of the CO Indians.  He wrote all about what he would have seen.  It was really great and his teacher was very impressed!

Some more great pics of all the fun!
What a cutie pie!
We all got a chance to show our dancing skills...Zander was impressive!
Great Job Zander!!!

Spring has almost sprung but more snow to come and another bag!

More snow!
Today is in the high 60's maybe even into the 70's...tmr is supposed to be a blizzard, seriously, high in 30's with blowing snow...r u kidding me?!
So here are some spring in Colorado pics taken just this weekend...at least we had it for a couple days and to remind me that we are oh so close!

The poppies are popping!
It's only 60 but the kids are barefoot w/ their summer clothes...Zander at least still has his pants...I did too!
A little karyoki...
(snow shovels haven't been put away yet...we know CO all too well and that is my water wand that she is using for a microphone)

The daylilies have made their debut too!
Happy Spring!  Off to Kansas next week...can't wait!!

I have been working on another messenger bag for a friend.  It turned out great and she loved it...thank goodness (I always worry).  This is the same bag that my mom uses and seems to be the one most people buy.  I added a magnetic closure to this one though and love it.  It was so simple and easy to add too...I had put it off. Something new...god forbid!
Anyways...here it is!
 Very Fun!!

The Big Melt...that's CO for you!

So most of you know we got a lot of snow last week...the kiddos even had 2 snow days and got to stay home from school.  They had a ton of fun, spent hours outside enjoying all the snow.  It came down hard and fast...really beautiful!  But...it's all gone now!  I thought I would show you the difference a few days make here in CO.

This picture was taken Friday, October 30!

This is a beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce...you can see how big it is by how small the garage looks next to it....a massive couple of trees.  They were just full of snow!

Here are the same couple of trees and this was taken on Monday, November 2!  The snow is almost completely gone.  Colorado has crazy weather but I guess that is a big plus...you get good days and then great days!  Depending on how much you enjoy the snow, that could be either.  It was really so pretty and it was nice having the kiddos home to enjoy!
I Love Colorado!

SNOW?! Already?

What?  Really?  That's what they say...snow tomorrow!  We will see if it actually happens (I will let you know!)
I don't think I am quite ready for snow...Summer this year in Colorado was so mild and somewhat cool...I never really got warmed up.  I don't know if I am ready to be wrapped up to the hilt all the time once again...waiting for the school bus at 7:30am is not fun!  BRRRRR!

I guess I should be used to this...we have been here 18 years and that's how it works...today-70 degrees, tomorrow-40 degrees.

Well here is a picture to enjoy of our beautiful Colorado Aspen trees

...and some of our friendly creatures rummaging around the forests!  My first bear sighting...ever!

I will post more tomorrow if there is snow on the ground...gotta love Colorado!

Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by and come back often...I love the company!
