Snoooow Fun!

Saturday was a good day!  It was our second snow day in a row...no end in site either.  Carl had plans so he took off early in the morning.  I slept in (7:45!!!) and the kiddos quietly played wii and ds.  At least I think they were quiet...I put my earplugs in around 5AM and didn't hear a thing...PERFECT!  (my oldest is 11 yrs. old...she can easily babysit while Mom takes a deserved break from an early wake time!  Thanks Sissy!)

We decided to spend our morning at the public library.  We live in Boulder but we had heard that Longmont, the town just to the north of us, had a great library too so we had to check it out.  We all loved it!  The kids section is really wonderful!  So that was the morning...

The afternoon was not so civilized.  While I was doing some sewing, the kiddos hung out. They played inside with their games, dress-up, laughing, wrestling, and then sliding down the stairs over and over and over again.  It was all fun but I just had to change things up a bit (a bit too crazy).  I told the kids to get their snow stuff on (again) because we were headed out.  They all assumed we were going sledding but Mom doesn't do sledding so much...just not my thing.

This is what we ended up doing...a neighboring playground that we hadn't been to in quite a long time!  They were so psyched!  Easy enough!
HAVE FUN AND PLAY SAFE...hmmm...that is just what I had been saying over and over again as they were zooming down the stairs at home!

This is what they did!
The pics are a bit dark...sorry...It was snowing hard the entire time but they loved every minute of it...I bet they played for 45 minutes!

After I quickly took these pics, this is what I did!

Now this is my thing...warm, cozy, quiet time doing my favorite things...reading, crocheting and watching my kiddos have a great time!  PERFECT!

Ski Day!

In Boulder, we are lucky enough to be close to a wonderful ski resort!  It's Eldora and it's only about a 40 min drive from our house...love that!  (Eldora's motto..."Friends don't let Friends drive I-70"...perfect!)
Every fall we get the kids their season ski equipment from Christy Sports in Boulder and we are set and ready to go anytime we can and now that they are all great little skiers, it's all fun for everyone...no more bunny slopes...it's all blues for us baby!

The Troops...all set to go (come on Mom...no more pics)!

The Oldest...
The Son...
The baby...(where did the time go?)
I find it so interesting how their little personalities shine through while on that mountain-side.  My oldest, who generally is laid back, goes with the flow (except for those pre-teen moments), loves to have fun is exactly like that while skiing.  My son likes to have fun, likes all things perfect, and doesn't like to make a mistake.  This shines through while skiing.  My youngest is quiet, caring, sensitive and loves craziness and trying new things...she is a daredevil on the slopes...just like her daddy.  They all love to go skiing (also like their daddy) and are all so good.  I enjoy our ski day despite the work to get us all ready and out the door...it's so worth it to see their happy faces.

The crew...mostly...we almost got everyone in it.

The trees...my daredevils love the trees (make helmets an even better idea!) and I completely understand.  I loved going off the main trail when I was a kid and going through the little side trails just off the main trail.  I was always amazed at how quiet it was...loved it.  Maybe that is why I have an interest in cross-country skiing...quietness.  So the last of my pics are of the kiddos exiting their tree-trail...love it!

Snow Family...snow fun!!

Sending the kiddos outside to do their "rough-housing" ended up being a wonderful idea!  After quite awhile, they all came back saying Dad and I had to come out and see what they had done...it was our likenesses made of snow!!!  Wow...had to see that one for ourselves so we booted up and headed out.

After making the trek across the park behind our house...

This is what was unveiled...

Masterpieces!!!  Starting on the left (snowmen left, that is)...Dad, Mom, Big Sis, Brother, Little Sis, baby, baby, baby (I hope that is not wishful thinking on their part!)

This is Snowman Dad (a.k.a. Carl)!

Snowman Big Sis (Katia)!

Snowman Brother (Zander)!

Snowman Little Sis (Lili)!

Hmmm...where is that darn picture of Snowman Mom...hmmm...can't find it anywhere!

I am so glad they were driving each other crazy inside and decided to go play outside (with only a little encouragement from me)...this is what happens...I love it!!!  They were out there for a good hour and had such a great time, together...who knew it was possible after all the arguing and wrestling that had happened just before.  Holiday Break can get long but there really are things to do!!!  See??

By the way, did you notice Katia and Lili's snowmen both have pig tails and Zander's has a mowhawk?  Exact likenesses!

Happy snow days everyone...don't worry spring and summer will be here soon!

The Big Melt...that's CO for you!

So most of you know we got a lot of snow last week...the kiddos even had 2 snow days and got to stay home from school.  They had a ton of fun, spent hours outside enjoying all the snow.  It came down hard and fast...really beautiful!  But...it's all gone now!  I thought I would show you the difference a few days make here in CO.

This picture was taken Friday, October 30!

This is a beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce...you can see how big it is by how small the garage looks next to it....a massive couple of trees.  They were just full of snow!

Here are the same couple of trees and this was taken on Monday, November 2!  The snow is almost completely gone.  Colorado has crazy weather but I guess that is a big plus...you get good days and then great days!  Depending on how much you enjoy the snow, that could be either.  It was really so pretty and it was nice having the kiddos home to enjoy!
I Love Colorado!

SNOW?! Already?

What?  Really?  That's what they say...snow tomorrow!  We will see if it actually happens (I will let you know!)
I don't think I am quite ready for snow...Summer this year in Colorado was so mild and somewhat cool...I never really got warmed up.  I don't know if I am ready to be wrapped up to the hilt all the time once again...waiting for the school bus at 7:30am is not fun!  BRRRRR!

I guess I should be used to this...we have been here 18 years and that's how it works...today-70 degrees, tomorrow-40 degrees.

Well here is a picture to enjoy of our beautiful Colorado Aspen trees

...and some of our friendly creatures rummaging around the forests!  My first bear sighting...ever!

I will post more tomorrow if there is snow on the ground...gotta love Colorado!

Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by and come back often...I love the company!
